Is he the ONE?

Posted in Mind & Soul on March 14, 2012 by sistagirlspot

How will you know he’s the right guy?

You are physically attracted to him…

Women can typically determine attraction within ten seconds of an initial meeting. Studies show that while attraction can grow over time, it usually doesn’t. So if he doesn’t turn you on right away, there’s no need to waste your time (or his).

You share similar morals…

The two of you are in sync about how your lives should be guided. For instance, if you’re a Christian, it’s critical that your mate have that value trait at equal importance. Consider your principles to be the superglue to keep you bonded in your relationship.

He complements your personality….

We all have distinct personalities. Each one has a key feeling associated with it, like power, intelligence, conviction and admiration. (My wife is a supporter who need to feel appreciated; I’m an analyst who needs to be correct.) A compatible match is someone who is not your exact personality type but whose type meshes well with yours.

The National Enquirer Nabs A Photo Of Whitney Houston In Her Casket

Posted in Entertainment on February 23, 2012 by sistagirlspot

Did you want to see this photo of Whitney Houston‘s corpse in her casket? Because it’s staring at you from the cover of The National Enquirer at every gas station and grocery store check-out line.

The Enquirer has really outdone itself: Last week, they staged a model slumped in a bathtub to recreate how Whitney’s friends found her dead. And now they’ve infiltrated her private viewing — look how proudly they proclaim that in the headline — to snap an illicit photo with someone’s camera phone.

It’s becoming more and more commonplace to see photos of dead celebrities and/or political figures. Consider the disturbing autopsy photo of Michael Jackson‘s corpse that surfaced during the Conrad Murray trial, or the fact that you can probably track down the video of Saddam Hussein‘s execution if you look hard enough.

I agree with Jezebel: Images are news. However, there’s a line being crossed here because Houston’s family obviously didn’t release this image to the public, not to mention the fact that it’s slapped on the cover of a publication you see in a setting as banal as the supermarket. Not that Bobbi Kristina Brown does her own shopping, but imagine seeing your mother’s corpse every time you go out for a gallon of milk.

Is it really not enough that the family televised and live-streamed Whitney’s funeral for all of her fans?

Bobby Brown Explains Why He Left Whitney Houston’s Funeral

Bobby Brown Explains Why He Left Whitney Houston's Funeral

Whitney Houston‘s funeral packed the inside of Newark’s New Hope Baptist Church Saturday. But one notable person who was absent from the crowd was her ex-husband Bobby Brown.

A witness tells Us Weekly that Brown “was allowed to go in, pay his respects and then he had to leave. He was red-eyed going up to the casket and then left. He was there for 15 minutes.”

Addressing the speculation that he was thrown out, turned away and rumors that he didn’t show at all, Brown, who’s schedule to perform at a concert Saturday, has released an official statement, explaining the situation in full.

“My children and I were invited to the funeral of my ex-wife Whitney Houston. We were seated by security and then subsequently asked to move on three separate occasions. I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continue to ask us and no one else to move. Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi Kristina. In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife  and departed as I refused to create a scene. My children are completely distraught over the events. This was a day to honor Whitney. I doubt Whitney would have wanted this to occur. I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how.”

Earlier this week, a source told Us that there is still underlying tension between Houston’s relatives and Brown, who married Houston in 1992. Their divorce was finalized in 2007.

“There are family members who felt Bobby drove Whitney into drugs,” one source explained. “But now Bobby is clean and Whitney has unfortunately passed. So there’s resentment.”

Lower Blood Pressure Naturally

Posted in Health with tags , on February 17, 2012 by sistagirlspot

Many adults actively seek methods to lower blood pressure naturally. High blood pressure, or hypertension, is a serious epidemic in the United States, affecting roughly one out of three adults. Left untreated, hypertension frequently leads to serious cardiovascular disturbances including heart attack and stroke–which, together, form the leading cause of death in the United States.

Hypertension is far too serious to leave untreated. Often known as a “silent killer,” high blood pressure often presents with few or no symptoms until it escalates to cause life-threatening complications, so people with hypertension must seek effective treatment immediately upon diagnosis. Natural treatment options, used under the guidance of a qualified health care provider, can help to alleviate hypertension and reduce the risk of complications.

Here are methods that have been used to try to lower blood pressure naturally, to various degrees of efficacy.

The DASH Diet

DASH, or Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, is a highly effective natural intervention for high blood pressure. The DASH diet rivals antihypertensive drugs in its efficacy, and surpasses it in safety. According to Mayo Clinic, DASH reduces blood pressure in as few as two weeks, lowering it over time by as many as 14 points. In addition to helping to lower blood pressure naturally, DASH diets can also reduce your risk of obesity, cancer, osteoporosis and diabetes.

While an average American diet contains roughly 3,500 mg of sodium per day, the DASH diet restricts this intake to a maximum of 2,300 mg (or, in a more strict version, 1,500 mg). DASH dieters must eat a diet comprised predominantly of whole grains, vegetables, legumes and fruits. Only lean animal products are allowed in the DASH diet, at a rate of no more than six servings per day. The DASH diet contains very little fat, caffeine, alcohol or processed sugar.

Active Lifestyle

According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, more than 95% of hypertension cases are “primary” hypertension, meaning that they have no obvious, specific underlying cause. However, several factors contribute to increases in a person’s blood pressure. Scientists have identified a strong link between obesity and high blood pressure, so it is critical to address this risk factor effectively.

An active lifestyle can help to reduce body fat, thereby decreasing your risk for hypertension. Studies have consistently revealed that regular exercise can reduce hypertension risk by as much as 70%, compared to people who lead sedentary lifestyles. Exercise daily for at least 30 minutes to keep your blood pressure healthy and to improve your overall health.

L-Arginine

L-arginine is an amino acid, or a chemical building block of protein. Found in natural foods including red meat, poultry, fish, and milk, L-arginine acts as a precursor to the compound nitric oxide. Nitric oxide causes blood vessels to dilate, reducing the amount of pressure in veins and arteries. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, a deficiency in nitric oxide may contribute to the onset of hypertension.

Foods and supplements containing L-arginine may act as effective natural treatments for high blood pressure, but evidence is somewhat mixed. According to the National Institutes of Health, “There is some evidence that taking L-arginine can slightly lower blood pressure in healthy people and in people with type 2 diabetes who have mild high blood pressure.” Although generally safe, L-arginine can have some side effects. Consult your health care provider about the use of L-arginine as a supplement.

Garlic

Used for millennia as both a food and medicine, garlic is a pungent plant with powerful medicinal properties. The National Institutes of Health regards garlic as “possibly effective” as a treatment for hypertension, noting that studies have found blood pressure reductions of 7 – 8 % among people using garlic extracts. Garlic included in diet may also help to reduce the risk of related cardiovascular conditions, such as high cholesterol and atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries.

Unfortunately, no medical treatment is completely free of risk, especially to people with multiple medical conditions. Before self-treating any medical condition, always consult your primary health care provider to discuss the benefits, risks and expectations associated with any natural treatment.

Lauryn Hill Asks Fans to Be “Patient” With Her Transition

Posted in Entertainment with tags , on February 17, 2012 by sistagirlspot

The hip hop star cites Whitney Houston’s death as a reason for fans to stick by their favorite artists during rough times.

Lauryn Hill

Lauryn Hill delivered an exclusive Valentine’s Day performance at the Palladium in Hollywood, and the former Fugees’ member had a personal message for those in attendance. During the show, Hill referenced the death of Whitney Houston as a good reason for the public to give their favorite stars a break when they don’t live up to the expectations of fans, reports the LA Times Pop & Hiss blog. “Aren’t you tired of losing our people?” Hill asked the crowd. “I am. Love your artists. When they falter, hold them accountable. But love them. People are now showing Whitney Houston the love and respect she should have received throughout her career — through all of it.”

Coming towards the end of the show, the gravity of the statement was punctuated by the fact that it was one of the first times during her set that Hill opted to engage the sold-out crowd with conversation. In consideration of her own personal problems the statement was all the more touching.

“I’m in transition still,” Hill continued to share with her fans. “Be patient with me. New is coming.”

Hill has four more exclusive concert dates coming up — tonight in San Francisco at the Warfield, Feb. 23 in Boston, Feb. 25 in Atlantic City and Feb. 29 in Washington, D.C.

Chris Brown Denies Joking About Hitting Women

Posted in Entertainment on February 17, 2012 by sistagirlspot

Breezy says reports that he made light of domestic violence are not true.

Chris Brown is known for speaking his mind, especially on Twitter, but he also knows when to draw the line.

According to TMZ, Brown was accused of making a pass at a woman at the Lasio Professional Hair Care suite Grammy gift lounge on Feb. 10 by dropping the line, “Can I get your number? I promise I won’t beat you.”

However, as Brown shares, domestic violence is one of those topics he feels is off limits. “That is absurd and absolutely not true. I did not say that nor would I joke about that,” he said in a statement to TMZ.

Though Brown delivered an electric performance in his return to the Grammy stage for the first time since the infamous assault on then girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, he has received much heat from people who thought his involvement in the show sent the wrong message.

Country singer Miranda Lambert fired shots at Brown on Monday night [Feb. 13] when she questioned whether or not Brown deserved any awards or even be allowed to be present at the Grammys.

“How dang long did they give Nicki Minaj to do whatever that was? Strange.

And Chris Brown twice? I don’t get it. He beat on a girl…” Lambert tweeted.
Brown later responded with a general tweet “HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY Now That’s the ultimate F— OFF!,” which he immediately deleted.

Lambert may not be over the infamous 2009 attack but it seems like Rih Rih is. Breezy was spotted at the “Talk That Talk” singer’s 24th birthday party, just days after the three-year anniversary of the pre-Grammy attack.

According to TMZ, Brown not only attended the party on Monday night in Beverly Hills but was also spotted talking to and holding hands with Rihanna. The sighting adds fuel to the fire of another rumor — that Brown will be the feature on the remix of Rihanna’s single “Birthday Cake.”

Never in secret…

An excellent rule about self-medication:  Never take any drug or medicine in secret. Someone should know what you take. Especially, over the counter medications.
